Snapshots of my life

Music

Albert Einstein once said: "If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. ... I get most joy in life out of music."

I have been playing trumpet and flugelhorn since I was 12. I started playing bigband soon after, in the Fraggle Jazz Orchestra of Bart Bijleveld. I owe a lot to the wonderful Jan Wessels for his lessons and his inspiring example as a person. My Amsterdam music career included Crea Bigband, Peter Guidi's Jazzmania, The Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra and the Koki Boga Bigband.

For all you trumpet lovers out there, a short list of gear.

Moreover, I play in the Dexter Energy jazzgroup with my good friends Henri Huisman (double bass), Rob Besselink (guitars) and Hans Grutterink (vibraphone). In 2006, we celebrated our tenth anniversary as probably the softest playing jazzgroup in The Netherlands. If ever you like to get in contact, please do so per jazzcombo@gmail.com.

You will also find me a regular contributor to the Trompet.nl forums.
